Sidebar / Main View: Building Information
The top of the sidebar shows the building capacity (the maximum number of people in the space). Please reach out to support@density.io for help adjusting your building capacity.
Below that are the space functions, which allow you to see what spaces you have covered on that floor.
Note: If you are only covering the building or floor level, you will not see this box
The next panel contains your company's operating hours. The user can set these hours by opening the panel toggle and sliding the handles. The control panel includes daytime, overnight, and 24-hour operating hour options.
These hours will be saved for each building when changes are made.

At the bottom of the sidebar is a panel showing the floor information. The different colored dots represent the different space types and how many you have on your floor.
Cards
Each card has a header with a badge that corresponds to the scope of the analysis. This may be a specific space type, a specific floor, or an overview of the whole building.
Each chart should answer a question, which is shown in the title. Where needed, there will be an info popup with additional information next to the question.
The footer of each card shows the date selection, which tells the user the time period being analyzed and, in some cases, controls to change it.
The right side of the footer has contextual actions that the user can take, such as downloading the chart or the data.
Selecting a date range
Select the desired date range in any of the charts by clicking the date in the bottom left corner of the card. This will open a calendar view where the user can select the last 7 days, the last week, the last 30 days, the last month, the last 90 days, or a custom date range (up to 90 days at a time) for visualization.

Comparisons
The charts have a Compare action button at the bottom right. Click the button to show comparison charts by floor, space, or labels. Each type can be collapsed or expanded by clicking on the title within the menu:
Note: The floors section will only appear if there is more than one floor in the building. The labels section will only appear if the space type for the card has at least one label.
Each listed item opens a separate comparison chart. You can select as many as you would like to compare:
Click Download in the bottom right of the charts, and select CSV or JPEG. Each chart that is shown in comparison will open in a separate file.
General Analytics Charts
How many people are in the building?
Use this chart to see the building's totals. Filter by peak or average occupancy by day for your report by clicking the words under the chart question.
- Select peak (the highest number of people in a single day) to know how many people to plan for at peak.
- Select average (the average over the selected hours) to see a standard day.
- Select the desired date range in any of the charts by clicking the date in the bottom left corner of the card.
You can also filter by Occupancy or Visits in the top right of the chart.
- Use occupancy to report how many people were in your space. This accounts for entrances and exits. Please note that occupancy requires full sensor coverage.
- Use visits to report how many entrances occurred to give users an idea of the daily traffic flow. This option only requires Entry Sensors.
Please note that Density sensors are anonymous and do not filter for things like employees, people lingering in doorways, or people leaving and returning to the space.
What are the busiest days of the week?
This chart references up to three months of data and shows the busiest days over that timeframe.
Select peak (the highest number of people in a single day) or average (the average over the selected hours) metrics for your report by clicking the words under the chart question.
Select the desired date range in any of the charts by clicking the date in the bottom left corner of the card.
Click Download in the bottom right of the chart to save the chart as a CSV or JPEG.
What are the busiest hours of the day?
This chart displays a week's worth of data and will show you the occupancy trend by peak or average for the week.
Select the desired date range in any of the charts by clicking the date in the bottom left corner of the card. You can select the last 7 days, the last week, the last 3 weeks, the busiest week, or a custom week.
Looking at the hourly overview may help with decisions like staffing, spotting popular time trends, or showing the hours when your space may need extra cleaning.
How many people are in the building?
This chart shows an occupancy or entrance heatmap by hour for up to 3 weeks (21 days) of usage.
Select the desired date range by clicking the date in the bottom left corner of the card. You can select the busiest week, the last 7 days, the last week, the last 3 weeks, the busiest week, or a custom time range (up to 21 days).
Click the compare button at the bottom right of the chart to show comparison charts by floor, space, or label.
Space-Type Charts
The following charts are based on space types. If you only have one space or do not cover any spaces, you will not see any of the following charts.
Please note that this page will look different for every company and every building.
Collaboration Spaces
The following example looks at Meeting Rooms.
Each row will show Capacity with a number next to it. This number represents the maximum number of people meant to be in this room. The gray number indicates the number of rooms you have in that size.
This chart breaks down the group sizes that use the space and the percentage of time they used the room that week.
The above example shows that the most common group sizes are between two and six people, regardless of the room size. This allows you to see if your room sizes match the meetings your location is actually having.
Focus Spaces
The following example looks at Desks. See Quick Guide to Building Analytics for the complete list of categories and types.
How are Desks being used?
This chart compares how often desks are in use for at least one hour (light blue) versus three hours (dark blue).
The closer the bars line up, the more people remain at their desks rather than using collaborative spaces.
Hover your mouse over the columns to see the number of people using the desks.
Use the Compare button to compare the number of desks in the building to see how close you are to running out of space.
Are there enough [desks, meeting rooms, etc.]?
These occupancy heatmap charts show the percentage in use for more than one minute in 15-minute increments. This allows you to quickly see the peak times of different spaces. These charts can be downloaded as a PDF or JPEG by clicking the download button.
